30 Minute Meals and New Dots!

Pyrex Love - Rachel Ray uses Dot Bowls! We had talked about the Food Network earlier and their predilection for Pyrex New Dots Bowls as props on their shows.

I’d seen them used on several shows previously, including Rachel Ray’s 30 Minute Meals and Alton Brown’s Good Eats. However, a few weeks ago while channel surfing I caught a glimpse of the New Dots bowls on 30 Minute Meals but I actually happened to have my camera so I snapped a few blurry photos of Rachel using them. It’s kind of fun to see the food celebrities with the bowls.

Pyrex Love - Rachel Ray uses Dot Bowls 2She actually uses two of the bowls, the orange dot #401 1.5 pint bowl and the elusive 4 quart green dot bowl that’s been selling for really high prices lately.

The subject of the show was something like “Meatloaf Muffins” or something and you could see her get into the meat mixture in the green dot bowl with her hands. That bowl looked rather minty and nice. I wonder who their props person is for the shows and whether they buy their stock on Ebay or at antique/thrift stores.

Pyrex Love - Rachel Ray uses Dot Bowls 3Later, she used the orange dot bowl to mix up some sort of BBQ type of glaze to use with the muffins. I got one or two snaps of both bowls together, but this was one of the best ones. This is really interesting seeing the bowls being used on the show. As said before, I’ve seen them used in several episodes of this show as well as on Alton Brown’s shows. If you’ve caught any glimpses of the dotty bowls or other pieces of vintage pyrex on Food network (or other shows/movies), please let us know!

Oh, I’m so happy you were able to snap these photos. I’m in awe of how much sway a celebrity can have on such things!

rachel ray has a ton of minty vintage housewears in her tv kitchen. that plus her extreme perkiness makes it really hard for me to watch her show (i have a cold little jealous heart).

  3. Linda Says:

Suzy: I agree. I wouldn’t be surprised if the prices of New Dot bowls go up because of Rachel Ray!

Jordana: I’ve only seen these bowls on her show- will have to keep an eye out for more! I love her kitchen though - esp that stove & the fridge = Love!

  4. Stephanie Says:

I get all excited when I see her using “my bowls” on her show, lol. I think she used a clear pyrex tea pot once, too. And I want her stove, too!!

If you look really close at the newest Cingular commercial, the woman in the kitchen is using a small Gold Butterfly Pyrex bowl.

  6. pyrex love Says:

suzy, that is so funny because last night I was watching TV and I thought I saw a Butterfly Gold bowl. But I was thinking… Cingular wouldn’t use it, would they? Glad to see you spotted it too!

  7. Stephanie Says:

    I’ve seen that too.

  8. Christina Says:

Ive seen the green by itself and then the other colors together in a set on ebay. What is an entire set include of the dots design?

  9. Denise Says:

How about the neat items she has on her stove. Are those also pyrex? I adore them.

  10. Janet Says:

I have the whole new dot set, which I am so very proud of, especially since they are in great condition. I also have seen her use the blue dot and the glass pyrex tea pot

  11. dawn Says:

I am trying to find the name or maker of the bowl she uses that has a repeating leaf pattern. Can anyone help?

  12. pyrex love Says:

christina - the dots set has orange, yellow, blue and green.

dawn - If it’s what I think it is, then they are Catherine Holm enamel bowls. Have a look on ebay under that name to see if that’s what you saw.

  13. Stacey Says:

Does anyone know what type of Pyrex the canisters on top of Rachel Ray’s refrigerator is? They are bright colors, blue with green flowers, and orange with red flowers . . . very 70’s looking. I would love to know their names, so I can look for a set myself.

We've been having a lot of bots trying to leave comments lately. So we're adding a math thingy to the comment form. It should be easy to solve :) Regardless, you won't see your comment right away, because we are also moderating each one. It will most likely show up in a few hours to a few days.
