This D-Handle Pyrex mug is of the standard shape and style, but the finish is actually black which is somewhat unusual. I’ve only come across this one slightly beaten up example of the mug - usually we see Citrus Orange, Burnt Orange or the Steel Blue colors. I am not saying the black color is rarer than the others - just that is seems more uncommon than the others. There is another green color of this mug that also seems slightly less common.
An interesting note about the finish on the mug is that it is actually glossy instead of matte as on the Charcoal Snowflake pyrex pieces. In addition, the backstamp on ours is of the “Corelle” variety. The mugs were meant to be sold as a color compatible item for the Corelle “Onyx” pattern. It is marked “Corelle by Corning, Corning NY USA Not For Broiler or Stovetop Use” along with a batch number.
I believe these were sold in sets of 4 or 6 as usual for these types of mugs. They are the standard 300ml size of mug.
