This Blue Floral casserole is one of those items that is listed as a “regular” item instead of promotional on a couple of sites, with the caveat that it’s probably a promo. We’re just going to call it promotional because there’s only one Pyrex piece found in this style, as far as we know.
But interestingly, this is actually a regular Corelle dish pattern called “Blue Floral” and we’ve seen Corelle dinnerware plates that are decorated with it. I believe that the plates are only dark blue on white, whereas this casserole lid has the pattern in dark and lighter blue. The casserole comes up once in awhile in auctions, so it’s not extremely rare - it’s just that there doesn’t seem to be any other Pyrex items that have the pattern (I suspected that there might be mugs, but haven’t found any Pyrex ones yet).
The pattern itself seems very similar to the Old Town (often called Blue Onion or Blue Danube) with stylized flowering vines that almost look like Jack and the Giant type beanstalks. The lid itself is decorated as well as the sides of this #473 1 quart sized casserole. We have the lid only, which was a gift from a friend. I’m not 100% sure yet, but I believe it also came with an interesting metal cradle consisting of two rings for the casserole to sit in that are connected by 3 round knobs on the bottom to protect table surfaces from the hot casserole.
You should note that if you are looking for this piece, hardly anyone on ::ebay(”Ebay”) :: ever calls this “Blue Floral”. It’s almost always called by another name, with Blue Onion or Old Town being most common.
