Pattern: Advertising / Specialty
Identifiers / Alternate Names: This category includes pyrex items that were customized for companies, produced for advertising purposes, or made for special events such as one time employee gatherings. While there might not be much distinction between this category and the "Promotional / Unknown" category, we felt that because of the large number of advertising items (mugs in particular) that they should be placed in their own category to avoid cluttering the already crowded promotional category. In most cases, these items are not sets but single items.

This is a really great little promotional casserole that we just were unable to pass up. As far as we know, it was not released to the public and was only given to employees and other people related to the company at a service dinner in 1970. This opal white casserole has slate blue colored decals along the sides that read “Charleroi Plant Service Dinner 1970″ and “Corning Glass Works”, the latter which is in all caps.
What’s kind of nice is that the color matches the other Pyrex Labware mug that we have. The casserole itself is quite tiny and measures 7″ x 4 1/4″ x 1 1/4″. Now, unlike the mug this IS marked specifically as Pyrex on the bottom. This is actually a piece of tableware, an individual #700 10 ounce casserole that is marked on the bottom “700 - 10 Oz Pyrex Brand Tableware By Corning Made in U.S.A”
Here’s a pic of the casserole being used - to hold corn kernels of all things! This should give an idea of just how small the casserole actually is. Because of its smaller size, these casseroles are sometimes called “Pixie Dishes”.
