Pattern: Desert Dawn
Identifiers / Alternate Names: This category covers a number of different items that could have actually been classed as "solid colors". However, all of these items have a speckled look to the finish consisting of what looks like tiny spots or flecks of brown (on the yellow) or light red (on the pink) paint. From far away they look like solid colors with a bit of texture to the finish. Also known as: Speckle, Flecks, Desert.

This was called a “Round Dish” in advertisements for Desert Dawn, but it really looks like a cake pan size and that’s much more descriptive so we’ll be using that designation. It came in Yellow and Pink speckled and measured 8 1/4 inches in diameter. We’ve also seen this called a pie plate on Ebay so you’ll want to try that search as well.

It has a #221 stamp and unlike the pie plate (or shallow dish) it has rounded handles. It is also much deeper than the pie plate. I don’t believe that these cake pans came with lids usually.
