Pattern: Advertising / Specialty
Identifiers / Alternate Names: This category includes pyrex items that were customized for companies, produced for advertising purposes, or made for special events such as one time employee gatherings. While there might not be much distinction between this category and the "Promotional / Unknown" category, we felt that because of the large number of advertising items (mugs in particular) that they should be placed in their own category to avoid cluttering the already crowded promotional category. In most cases, these items are not sets but single items.

Here’s yet another commemorative 1410 style mug that is much easier to find if you live on the East Coast. I keep hoping that one day we’ll come across something that’s easier to find over here on the West Coast to even things out. But no such luck - Corning was based in New York and Pennsylvania and so the East Coast folks are going to have much better luck coming across these special Pyrex items.
So, we have to turn to Ebay which is where we found this great Ellsworth, PA commemorative 1410 Pyrex mug. It says it is a 1776-1976 commemorative - once again, I’m going to wait to expound on this particular history until someone writes in with accurate information. It just doesn’t make sense to try and write that up ourselves since we know nothing about the history of the area.
There are three main graphics on the mug, all in plain black. The first shows a man riding a mine car towing some ore. The second is a marching group playing drums and a flute. The third is a country scene featuring the “Ellsworth-Mine 51, Ellsworth Division”. The words “Ellsworth Pennsylvania” are also on the front of the mug. You’ll notice a little printing error on our mug where the seam splits the number 6 and the letter “H”. This is common on these type of mugs.
