These interesting Federal Eagle mugs are notable for Pyrex because their shape is only shared by a few different pattern: the ones we know about are Federal Eagle and Brittany Blue - both in the Hearth group patterns. The entire Hearth group is interesting because of the different styles of the items. Nearly every item is different than the “standard” style of Pyrex for things like bowls, mugs and casseroles.

Now, we have also listed a set of diagonal handle mugs and a beverage server in the pattern “Federal Eagle” because there was no other place to put them and they do feature a federal eagle. However, we don’t believe they were in this set. We believe they were sold as a beverage server set independent of the Hearth Group.

The mugs that ARE in Federal Eagle consist of two different styles - one looks very much like the mixing bowl set with the eagle and a band of goldleaf and brown at bottom on a cream colored background. The other is dark brown in color with a goldleaf band at the bottom of the mug. In both of these mugs, the handle loops are unusually round - they are quite easy to tell from the Diagonal Handle mugs and other Pyrex mugs. In addition they are marked as #489.

If you have clear pics of these mugs, we’d love to feature them here.
