This is a lovely Pyrex Chip and Dip set produced by Corning as a promotional in 1959. The pattern consists of goldleaf scroll designs on a very light cream or yellow base color. Thank you to pyrexlady52 for the great photo of the set above, which includes both bowls (standard #441, #444 cinderella bowls) as well as the familiar chip and dip gold metal clip on cradle holder for the dip bowl.
There are MANY different Pyrex promotional items that had similar scroll work in different colors. On the Pyrex Files website, there is a page that includes this Chip n Dip along with a set of 943/945 casseroles. We are unsure if these actually came in the same base color as the Chip / Dip (the ones we’ve seen appear to be a olive green) and whether the pattern is even the same. It looks to be different, actually, so we are going to include those greenish 943/945 casseroles on a separate page even if they are indeed called “Golden Scroll”.
We have seen several original boxes for these items that show the set as well as the title “Deluxe Chip and Dip Set Gold on Ivory” as well as the designation “No.3 Gold”. We are unsure whether this item predates the normal Chip and Dip numbering of “395″, or whether that number is somewhere else on the box… we have only seen the front of the box so far. We are also unsure whether this is officially called “Golden Scroll”. Everyone seems to call it this, however, so we will leave it like that for now.
