Pattern: Advertising / Specialty
Identifiers / Alternate Names: This category includes pyrex items that were customized for companies, produced for advertising purposes, or made for special events such as one time employee gatherings. While there might not be much distinction between this category and the "Promotional / Unknown" category, we felt that because of the large number of advertising items (mugs in particular) that they should be placed in their own category to avoid cluttering the already crowded promotional category. In most cases, these items are not sets but single items.

There seem to be a ton of these Charleroi plant mugs and items floating around, which leads me to believe they’re less rare than they might appear. After all, if they gave this out to EVERY worker who came to the events… but still, they make collecting mugs fun because they’re so many different varieties of them.
This is a standard D-Handle style Pyrex mug with “Pyrex Microwave Safe” stamped on the bottom, but no ID#. The cups hold about 300 ml, about 10oz. The front reads “Charleroi Family Day 1984″ in blue-gray lettering. This is one of the later dates for these mugs that we’ve come across.
The reverse features the same colored lettering reading “Corning Quality” and a gigantic “Apple-Q”. The Q is written sort of in a brush type script. I would like it if any former employees at the plant could tell me what history behind this logo which appears on many of these pieces. To me, it seems like the Q stands for “Quality” but they made it into an apple for some reason.
